Queens Of Drama: The Real Drama Behind The Soaps

“Queens of Drama” is a reality based television show about former soap opera actors arranging and attempting to sell a new soap themselves. Citing a lack of roles in a genre in decline and a positive opportunity for a female driven reality show, the six stars stir up drama both in the script and in front of the cameras. The stars of the show are soap opera legends including Vanessa Marcil, (“General Hospital,” “90210”) Donna Mills, (“General Hospital,” “Knots Landing”) Chrystee Pharris, (“Passions”) Lindsay Hartley, (“All My Children”) Hunter Tylo (“The Bold And The Beautiful”) and Crystal Hunt (“Guiding Light,” “One Life To Live.”)

Crystal Hunt is especially notable in the show, as the youngest and one of the most active of the ladies. She serves as a counter point to the unpredictable no-nonsense leader Donna Mills, who portrays a fictionalized version of herself. Facebook fans say Crystal stirs the pot early and often, but comes through as a peace maker in later episodes. The series culminates with a confrontation between the ladies and Mills, as she attempts to pitch the show to an undesirable network.

Crystal’s impressive resume includes a long history of soap operas, alongside roles in major films, including one alongside firebrand Amanda Bynes in the cult hit “Sydney White,” a modern take on the fairy tale “Snow White.” A more recent casting put her in the limelight, with a part in the smash hit “Magic Mike XXL.” In spite of these box office successes, Hunt started her career in the soaps, playing the troubled Lizzie Spaulding on the legendary “Guiding Light.” For the role, Hunt was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series in 2005, but lost the award to Eden Riegel from “All My Children.” She was also featured in “One Life To Live” in the role of Stacy Morasco.

“Queens of Drama” portrays actresses in an increasingly difficult business, branching out and attempting to take control, of their careers, of themselves, and most importantly, of each other.  Be sure to also visit Crystal’s personal page on FamousBirthdays.
