Dr. Saad Saad’s Medical Interventions Help Children

Dr. Saad Saad, a well-known pediatric surgeon, has developed multiple medical equipment enhancements that provide better patient outcomes. According to the Medical Daily Times, Dr. Saad has recently created a catheter, built with an integral electromagnetic location identification device, which allows surgeons to ensure correct placement of a catheter without exposing the patient to frequent MRIs. With this technology, doctors are able to perform surgeries, liquid removals and other surgical procedures more efficiently. Acting as a metal detector, this electromagnetic location identification devise serves to locate the catheter and assist with placement without frequent x-rays, MRIs or other timely activities which can be an issue in an emergency situation. As such, this invention is not yet in production due to high costs; however, a company in Utah has shown some interest in the product and may move to produce the item, helping surgeons across the globe.

Another invention by Dr. Saad is reviewed by the article in the Medical Daily Times. It is an improvement to the endoscope. Used to look inside the body, including areas such as the windpipe, throat, stomach and bladder, to name a few, this device provides necessary information to the doctor. Dr.Saad, focused on children, has developed this tool to meet the needs of his pediatric patients. Children are well known to swallow many dangerous items, including batteries, coins, and marbles, and can choke on food items, including peanuts and hot dogs as well. With the normal endoscope, doctors have to remove the scope, use a cleaner to remove excess liquid to see clearly, and reinsert the endoscope. With Dr. Saad’s improvement, a suction type cleaner has been attached to the endoscope allowing for the doctor to clear out obstructions while keeping the endoscope inserted, again saving time in an emergency. This invention is currently utilized by many doctors, allowing them to assist patients quickly and more effectively.

Prior to retirement, Dr. Saad Saad was a Board Certified Pediatric Surgeon. He served as the co-medical director and surgeon-in-chief at the K Hovnanian Children Hospital in New Jersey. His medical degree was earned from Cairo University and was a doctor in England prior to coming to the United States. The inventions by Dr. Saad have helped patients worldwide. Learn more:
